CUB’s Outreach team travels across the state to staff free events giving consumers energy efficiency tips for their home, educating them on how clean energy can cut their utility bills and helping people protect themselves from scams and rip-offs. Now in the winter heating season, CUB can help you learn how to make your home more efficient. We hope to see you at an event soon! 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 2, Homeowner Energy-Saving Workshop (in-person) Join the Citizens Utility Board (CUB) at Chicago Ald. Gil Villegas’s office (6560 W. Fullerton Ave, Unit #C118 – Suite A, Chicago, IL 60707) to learn about your energy choices and ways to save money on your utility bills. This free event is designed to help homeowners reduce their utility bills by sharing practical energy-saving strategies. 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 4, Woodland National Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration (in-person) Join CUB at the Woodland National Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration at Woodland Middle School (7000 W. Washington St., Cafeteria A, Gurnee, IL 60031). The event will provide an opportunity for Woodland Middle School families (K-8th grade) to celebrate, and will feature musical groups, artwork from students, decorated tables from different countries, and crafts for the kids. 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 8, Two services, One Location, One Day – DeKalb (in-person) Join CUB and iCash at the DeKalb Township (2323 South 4th St., DeKalb, IL 60115) for a free event to learn more about utility bills as well as unclaimed property. Each participant will speak one-on-one with a CUB counselor to review their bills. Bradley J. Fritts at the Sterling Public Library (102 W. 3rd St., Sterling, IL 61081) for a free event to provide suggestions on how to reduce your utility bills and tap into money-saving, clean energy programs. As we head toward an expensive summer of high electric bills for both Ameren and ComEd customers, CUB is holding several free events to give you money-saving energy efficiency tips to help you prepare your home for the heat. After a busy Earth Month (staffing over 60 events in April), CUB’s Outreach team is back on the road to help more consumers this Spring. We’re aiming to staff at least 500 events in 2019, as part of CUB’s 35th Anniversary Clean Bill Campaign. The campaign’s goal is to clean utility bills of bad deals and wasteful spending, and to educate people about opportunities with clean energy in Illinois.
