The new meters are wireless and send usage data automatically and more frequently. If used properly, they have the potential to save consumers money. Meter installation in Aurora will begin in August and\u2014most likely\u2014finish in\u00a0December.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Illinois\u2019 old electricity system is unreliable and expensive, but now it\u2019s going through historic change, and CUB wants to do all it can to make sure consumers aren\u2019t left behind,&#8221; CUB Executive Director David Kolata said. &#8220;If done right, these improvements can make our electricity more reliable and affordable, and we want consumers to have all the information they need to save\u00a0money.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The information center\u00a0features:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CUB\u2019s fact sheet, &#8220;The five things you need to know about your new electric\u00a0meter;&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Details on energy efficiency incentives, new power-pricing plans and other money-saving opportunities for Illinois\u00a0consumers;<\/li>\n<li>CUB Energy Saver, <strong><a class=\"bluebold\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cubenergysaver.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CUB Energy Saver<\/a><\/strong>, a free online tool that recommends actions consumers can take to cut their electric bills by potentially hundreds of dollars a year.
