The weather is heating up and that means CUB has a jam-packed schedule of events to help you save on your utility bills. <\/span>Below you will find several <\/span>events <\/span>that can help you improve energy efficiency at home and protect your bottom line. We hope to see you there.<\/span><\/p>\n

6:00 – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 2: Navigating Utility Bills with CUB<\/strong><\/p>\n

CUB and <\/span>Matteson Public Library<\/a><\/strong> (<\/span>801 School Ave., Matteson, IL 60443<\/span>) are hosting an in-person presentation focused on helping residents understand the charges on their gas and electric bills. <\/span>Register here.<\/a><\/strong> (This is one of two events taking place at this library.\u00a0 See below for more.)<\/span><\/p>\n

8:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Friday, May 5: Open the Y<\/strong><\/p>\n

CUB will have a table at Open the Y, a free community event in Glen Ellyn celebrating older adults and showcasing community resources. Stop by our table at the <\/span>B. R. Ryall YMCA<\/a><\/strong> (<\/span>49 Deicke Dr., Glen Ellyn, IL 60137<\/span>) for helpful tips and information on energy efficiency<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 11: Senior Resource Fairs<\/strong><\/p>\n

CUB will have a table at two different senior fairs with information on energy efficiency and how to cut your utility bills. One fair will take place at the <\/span>Southwest Senior Center<\/a><\/strong> (<\/span>6117 S. Kedzie Ave., Chicago, IL 60639<\/span>). We will also be at <\/span>North Riverside Parks and Recreation<\/a><\/strong> (<\/span>2401 S Des Plaines Ave, North Riverside, IL 60546<\/span>). We hope you can join us at one of the fairs!<\/span><\/p>\n

10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Saturday, May 13: Aurora Greenfest\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Join CUB at the 11th <\/span>Aurora Greenfest<\/a><\/strong>, the first since 2019! We will give a short presentation on the services CUB offers and important topics like energy efficiency. This event will take place at the <\/span>Prisco Community Center<\/a><\/strong> (<\/span>150 W. Illinois Ave., Aurora, IL 60506<\/span>).<\/span><\/p>\n

6:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 18: Navigating Utility Bills with CUB<\/strong><\/p>\n

Are you interested in going solar? Join CUB and Laudato Si\u2019 Ministries of the Diocese of Joliet for a virtual presentation to learn about the benefits of community solarand consumer tips to know before diving in. <\/span>Register here.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 20: Chicago Mobile City Hall\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Join CUB at <\/span>Chicago City Clerk Anna Valencia\u2019s<\/a><\/strong> Mobile City Hall, where community resources and city departments are brought directly to residents who are unable to commute downtown. CUB will have a table providing information on energy efficiency and your options in the gas and electric markets. This event will take place at Calumet Park (<\/span>9801 S Ave. G, Chicago, IL 60617<\/span>).<\/span><\/p>\n

10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 20: Navigating Utility Bills with CUB<\/strong><\/p>\n

Join CUB and <\/span>Sierra Club<\/a><\/strong> for a presentation on <\/span>Solar for All<\/a><\/strong>, Illinois\u2019 income-eligible solar program that allows homeowners, renters, and nonprofits to take advantage of the benefits of solar power, either by subscribing to a community solar farm, or, for homeowners, installing panels directly on their property. This event will take place at the <\/span>RPL Nordlof Center<\/a><\/strong> (<\/span>118 N. Main St., Rockford, IL 61101<\/span>).<\/span> Register here.<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

7:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 23: Grow Geo Skokie<\/strong><\/p>\n

Join CUB at the Skokie Public Library (<\/span>5215 Oakton St, Skokie, IL 60077<\/span>) for an informative session on geothermal heat pumps. We\u2019ll cover <\/span>the design and installation of geothermal heat pumps, including how they operate, system costs, environmental benefits and savings.
