With climate change getting worse and customers having a harder and harder time paying their bills, we can\u2019t afford to burn so much money on an expensive fossil fuel like gas that will soon be obsolete.\u201d<\/span><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Peoples Gas rate hike, ICC Docket # 23-0069; North Shore Gas rate hike, ICC Docket #23-0068<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>What Peoples\/North Shore Gas want:<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Peoples, $402 million a year <\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>(state record)<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">; North Shore, $17 million a year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>CUB expert testimony recommends reducing the rate hike by:<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Peoples, $63 million; North Shore, $3.1 million. This rate hike is unjust and unreasonable, and we urge state regulators to hold the utility accountable. The hard work is just beginning. Now we have to convince regulators to make deep cuts in these hikes. Here&#8217;s a general schedule for the rest of the year:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">June &#8211; July \u2013 Utilities file a rebuttal to CUB\u2019s testimony. CUB responds to the rebuttal testimony and utilities get surrebuttal.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">August &#8211; September\u2013 Parties file briefs and reply briefs, making their legal arguments to back up the testimony that was filed.)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">October \u2013 Administrative law judges at the ICC issue proposed orders, recommending how the ICC should vote.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">November \u2013 Parties in the case file briefs, debating the proposed orders\u2019 conclusions. Oral arguments, possible.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">November\/December \u2013 The 5-member ICC issues final rulings.
