CUB’s money-saving events in September

CUB’s Outreach team travels across the state to staff free events giving consumers energy efficiency tips for their home, educating them on how clean energy can cut their utility bills and helping people protect themselves from scams and rip-offs. We hope to see you at an event soon!

7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 3: Grow Geo Power Hour (online)
Join CUB, the Geothermal Alliance of Illinois (GAOI), Go Green Highland Park, Go Green Deerfield, and The Woods and Wetlands Group of the Illinois Sierra Club for this free, live hour-long presentation to learn about the basics of geothermal energy and how it can save money and benefit the community. 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 3, Homeowners United Resource Fair (in-person)
Join CUB at the Homeowners United Resource Fair (Metropolitan Family Services, 3249 North Central Ave., Chicago, IL, 60634). Visit CUB’s table for helpful information about lowering utility bills!

1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 9 OR 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 11: Home Energy Savings + Internet Options and Data Privacy: What you need to know (online)
Join Chicago Ald. Matt O’Shea, state Sen. Bill Cunningham, state Rep. Mary Gill and CUB to learn tips on how to reduce your energy usage and save money. This event is designed to help you better understand the ins and outs of your energy bills, avoid utility scams and learn about energy efficiency programs. Plus, you’ll learn how to protect your privacy online. Bring all your utility-related questions.

Join CUB at the Waukegan Interactive Resource Fair (Community Action Partnership of Lake County, parking lot, 2424 Washington St., Waukegan, IL, 60084). Visit CUB’s table for helpful information about lowering utility bills, including details on helpful solar programs. 

1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., Friday, Sept. 12, Lake Villa Utility Bill Clinic (in-person)
Join CUB at the Lake Villa District Library (140 N. Munn Rd., Lindenhurst, IL, 60046) for a free event to advise residents on reducing electric, gas, and both landline and cellphone bills. Each participant will speak one-on-one with a CUB counselor to review their bills. There are limited spots available–please
register in advance. 

8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 16, Chicago Utility Bill Clinic (in-person)
Join CUB at the El Valor Carlos Cantu Children & Family Center (2434 South Kildare Ave., Chicago, IL, 60623) for a free event to advise residents on reducing electric, gas, and both landline and cellphone bills. Each participant will speak one-on-one with a CUB counselor to review their bills.

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 16, Senior Health Fair in St. Charles (in-person)
Join CUB in St. Charles at the Senior Health Fair hosted by state Sen. Don DeWitte (St. Charles Park District, Pottawatomie Community Center, 8 North Ave., St. Charles, IL, 60174). Visit CUB’s table for helpful information about lowering utility bills!

8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 18, Chicago Utility Bill Clinic (in-person)
Join CUB at the El Valor Guadalupe Reyes Children & Family Center (1951 West 19th St., Chicago, IL 60608) for a free event to advise residents on reducing electric, gas, and both landline and cellphone bills. Each participant will speak one-on-one with a CUB counselor to review their bills.

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Friday, Sept. 19, Frankfort Community Resources Fair (in-person)

Join CUB at the Buffalo Grove Green Fair in Rylko Park (801 McHenry Rd., Buffalo Grove, IL, 60089). Visit CUB’s table for helpful information on how energy efficiency, solar power and other clean energy programs can help you cut costs.

12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 21, Third Act’s Sun Day Solar Fest in Chicago (in-person)
Join CUB at Third Act’s Sun Day Solar Fest (west of the dog beach at Montrose Park, 4400 N. Lake Shore Dr., Chicago, IL 60640). Third Act is a group for people over 60 who want to advocate for the environment. Visit CUB’s table for helpful information on how clean energy, such as solar power, can help you cut costs.

Join CUB at the El Valor Rey B. Gonzalez Children & Family Center (3050 E. 92nd St, Chicago, IL 60617) for a free event to advise residents on reducing electric, gas, and both landline and cellphone bills. Each participant will speak one-on-one with a CUB counselor to review their bills.

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Monday, Sept. 29, Countryside Bank Utility Bill Clinic (in-person)
Join CUB at the Countryside Bank (6734 Joliet Rd., Countryside, IL, 60525) for a free event to advise residents on reducing electric, gas, and both landline and cellphone bills.
